Inspired by viral ‘black eye’ prank, Scha Alyahya launches makeup trend to ‘scare’ phone-addicted moms

PETALING JAYA, July 17 — Actress Scha Alyahya is putting a humorous spin on a recent controversial prank that went viral online.

The fashion icon posted an Instagram photo of herself sporting bold eyeshadow that gave her the appearance of “panda eyes.”

“Blackeye phenomenon,” she wrote, with a hashtag that read: “show this to moms who love to play on their phones.”

The mother of one child was referring to a prank where parents applied black eyeshadow to their sleeping children and scared them by saying it was the effect of spending too much time on smartphones.

The act was heavily criticized by social media users and Public Health Malaysia for potentially inflicting trauma on children, prompting Scha to make a parody focusing on parents who were equally attached to their devices.

It seems Scha has also sparked an unlikely makeup trend, as the hashtag “challematapanda (panda eyes challenge)” has started making the rounds on social media.

Fans of Awan star Dania were very amused by her antics and some said she still looked pretty despite her extravagant makeup.

“I’m throwing away my phone and wearing an eye mask now,” adeed8 wrote.

“Even with a black eye, you’re still charming,” Shikinuda said.
