Hajiyev called for considering development of legislative frameworks regarding AI

This statement was made by the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and head of the foreign policy affairs department of the presidential administration, Hikmet Hajiyev.

“We are facing a new reality. The development of artificial intelligence and its use to spread information on social networks can have uncontrollable consequences, and this is already happening,” he said.

Hajiyev added that while stakeholders have not achieved positive results in implementing regulatory mechanisms in social networks, they may be able to implement a mechanism regarding AI through joint international efforts.

“It might be time to consider developing legislative, regulatory or conventional frameworks regarding artificial intelligence,” the presidential aide said.

According to Hajiyev, there are private initiatives in this area, but there are no serious discussions at the international level.
