Athletic Propulsion Labs (APL) expands its sneaker offering with the launch of its latest model.

Dubbed the Jogger, the new sneaker is the second entry in the company’s new “Future/Vintage” lifestyle footwear category, which launched earlier this year. According to the footwear company, the new sneaker was designed to “embrace the athletic culture of the early ’90s.”

Indeed, the Jogger’s athletic-inspired design combines microfiber, suede, mesh and ribbed jacquard in homage to vintage ’90s track culture. The silhouette features a signature high-stack sculpted Futurefoam midsole with its segmented Ultract solid rubber outsole and an elongated heel counter to accentuate the smooth ride. Special details include a structural ribbed woven upper as well as the signature APL Soufflé sockliner for added comfort.

“The Jogger is the result of a multi-year experiment in design, engineering and materials that blends the past and the future,” APL co-founders Adam and Ryan Goldston said in a joint statement Tuesday. “Growing up as athletes, the aesthetic of the early ’90s track was imprinted on our memories. With the Jogger, we sought to capture the essence of the sport, but not by setting a personal best, but rather by enjoying the journey. Our mantra for the shoe was ‘take it slow, stay technical,’ and the APL Jogger delivers on that promise beautifully.”

APL’s new Jogger sneaker, which retails for $400, is available for men and women in Black/Ivory/Gum, Ivory/Black/Gum, Ivory/Tan/Sunkissed, Beach/Tundra/Ivory and Beach/Burgundy/Iron colorways. It will be available exclusively for purchase online through the brand’s website as well as at its flagship stores in The Grove in Los Angeles and SoHo in New York City.

The release comes just months after APL kicked off its lifestyle category with the launch of the Nostalgia ’87 sneaker. At the time of the April launch, the company said the new silhouette featured a retro design based on 1980s court sports.

“This is our entry into the lifestyle world, but through performance,” Adam Goldston said in April. “We expect it to have a broader lifestyle appeal because of the way it looks, so this is our first entry into that space. We think it will attract a lot of new customers to APL.”
