Float Fest 2024 with Lil Wayne at COTA in Austin Abruptly Canceled

Float Fest has been canceled. A few days before the event was scheduled to take place at Circuit of the America’s Germania Insurance Amphitheatre on Saturday, September 7, a message appeared on the event’s Ticketmaster page announcing the event’s cancellation. The artists scheduled to perform included Lil Wayne, The Kid LAROI, and Jessie Murph.

The festival announced plans to return in March after a one-year hiatus. No Float Fest was held in 2023. Ticketmaster has assured buyers that they will be fully refunded to the original payment method used at the time of payment, as soon as funds are received from the festival organizers.

In 2022, Float Fest organizers held the event on a 765-acre private property in Gonzales, Texas.

However, Float Fest has remained silent on its 2023 status, with no events announced. There has also been no announcement in 2021. The festival was launched but later cancelled in 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Although dubbed “Float Fest,” the now-canceled music festival wasn’t going to take place on the water. The concert would instead take place in Austin, and attendees would be offered an additional $20 ticket toward discounted passes at Texas State Tubes to float down the San Marcos River at their own pace between September 5 and 15.

After 365thingsaustin posted about the cancellation of Float Fest on Instagram, the reaction in the comments was intense. Many commenters pointed out the lack of a float despite the festival’s name, and outrage over what they called the “fraudulent” nature of the event.

Ticketmaster has given a 14 to 21 day window for funds to be returned to buyers’ bank accounts.
