Car thief arrested after entering pedestrian subway

This is the moment a clumsy car thief was cornered by police following a high-speed chase – after entering a subway and getting stuck. The thief was caught by police as he entered the pedestrian underpass in a stolen VW Golf and had “nowhere to go”.

The black vehicle was taken to Bolton, Greater Manchester, then failed to stop when spotted by police in Huyton, Merseyside, on Sunday. And during a chase, the motorist hit two other cars before making the mistake of entering the metro.

Merseyside Police said in a post on X: “This VW Golf was stolen in Bolton and failed to stop for patrols in Huyton, colliding with two vehicles from the public in the process. The chase ended when the vehicle entered a subway (yes, a subway) and had nowhere to go.
