No cancellation, the final list is maintained, declares the CPS

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has debunked rumors that the recruitment of police officers for 2022 would be cancelled.

The PSC and the Joint Congress of the Police Service Commission (PSC) have been embroiled in disputes following allegations by the police that the recruitment exercise conducted by the commission was marred by irregularities.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, said the final list of successful candidates during the recruitment would not be cancelled.

He insisted that the exercise was carried out in accordance with existing laws.

Ani said: “The Police Service Commission has just completed routine maintenance of its portal containing the list of successful candidates for the recently concluded recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force. The commission wishes to disavow a statement circulating on social media according to which it had given in to pressure and canceled the final list of successful candidates.

“The commission has not and will not cancel the final list of successful candidates during the recruitment exercise which was conducted in strict compliance with the relevant guidelines and provisions of the law. The commission is monitoring the situation and has since restored the recruitment portal to its original content.

He urged successful applicants to disregard such reports.

Ani said: “Successful candidates are advised to ignore the deliberate antics of desperate groups bent on destroying the good work of the Commission in giving the nation an inclusive and merit-based recruitment exercise. It notes that it will continue to ensure that federal character, gender sensitivity and merit are the foundation of its recruitment process.

He warned the authors of the report to refrain, adding that anyone arrested would face legal consequences.
Ani said: “The commission calls on these disgruntled elements to stop further undermining the recruitment exercise as anyone arrested will be dealt with.

“The commission reaffirms that the portal is now fully functional and accessible. Candidates can now log in and access all its features without any interruption. The commission regrets the setbacks and ensures that it has fully secured the platform.”
