Biden reportedly meets with family to discuss future after second newspaper calls for his retirement

Georgia’s largest newspaper has become the second in the country to beg President Joe Biden to step aside and embrace the “shadow of retirement.”

The Atlanta Constitution-Journal’s front-page editorial appeared as NBC News reported that Biden is expected to discuss the future of his re-election campaign with his family at Camp David on Sunday.

While a debate was expected, the president and first lady Jill Biden both indicated they intended to stay in the race and ignore the 46th president’s shaky performance in Thursday night’s debate.

It was that debate that sparked scorn from the Atlanta newspaper, which said Biden’s performance was “atrocious” and failed to present a “competent and coherent vision for America’s future.”

“He failed to describe the most fundamental aspects of his program,” the newspaper’s editorial board wrote. “He failed to take credit for the significant accomplishments of his three and a half years in office.

“And he failed to counter the prevarications of an opponent who, according to CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale, lied 30 times during the debate, about once every 90 seconds of his time. distributed.”

“The shadow of retirement is now necessary for President Biden,” he adds.

The Atlanta newspaper is the second major newspaper to call on Biden to step down for the good of the country. The New York Times made a similar argument in an editorial Friday evening.
