Maryland mall shooter arrested in hotel room by Bel Air police

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — The Harford County Sheriff’s Office successfully apprehended Wesley Larry Lyons, a 35-year-old Edgewood resident, in connection with the June 2 shooting at Harford Mall.

Lyons was arrested today shortly after 1 p.m. in Anne Arundel County, concluding a meticulous operation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

Using advanced tracking technology, the Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit, alongside investigators from the Bel Air Police Department, traced Lyons’ movements to a hotel where he was hiding. Extensive surveillance helped determine his exact location, leading to a search warrant being issued for his hotel room.

The arrest was made by the Anne Arundel County Police Department SWAT team without any incident. Lyons is now in the custody of the Bel Air Police Department, accused of participating in the shooting.

The Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the community for its patience and support during the investigation.
