Pretty Freekin Scary will not return for a second season. TV Line reports that Disney Channel has canceled the multi-camera comedy horror series. The show, created by Jason P. Hauser and based on the popular book series, aired for one 20-episode season between June and August 2023.

Starring Eliana Su’a, Kyan Samuels, Leah Mei Gold, Yonas Kibreab and Emma Shannon, the comedy series follows Frankie Ripp (Su’a), a 14-year-old girl whose life takes an unusual turn.

She has a life that seems like a fairy tale with wonderful parents, an annoying little brother and a lifelong best friend. But then she suddenly dies in a freak accident falling into a manhole. After a heated debate with the Grim Reaper in the Underworld, Frankie is allowed to return home, but only if accompanied by her new guardians of the Underworld, Pretty (Samuels) and Scary (Gold). Frankie must now adjust to her “formerly dead” status in the most difficult setting of all: middle school.

The reason for the show’s cancellation was not given, but it joins a list of others canceled by the network in recent months, including Layer And The Raven’s House.

What do you think? Have you or anyone at home watched Pretty Freekin Scary? Do you think there should have been a second season?
