New Tomb Raider Products Offer a Closer Look at Lara Croft’s Character Design

Tomb Raider has never been the same since Core Studios took control.
Despite significant economic success, Crystal Dynamics has fumbled repeatedly to find an identity with its trilogies, but has ultimately failed to stick to its own concepts and ideas. Much to the chagrin of old fans of the franchise, and even some new ones.

Their first series of TR games – the “Legend” era – consistently carried over the elements and aesthetics of the films, adding these miserably boring and useless supporting characters and iterating on a noticeably different and surprisingly generic Lara.

The Survivor TR era goes even further than what is recognizable by de-emphasizing tombs, dungeons, and platforming and blatantly copying/pasting parts of what was trendy or popular at the time. All while having a Lara who is completely divorced from her original and unique characteristics.

What now? A new “unified” Lara Croft is on the horizon, perhaps teased in the horrific CoD skin. A flat-chested, man-faced DEI monstrosity that could very well be the new concept concocted by the clueless and visionless Crystal Dynamics for decades.
