Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 vs Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Gen: Specs, Features & More!

For those who missed it, Google’s new Pixel Buds Pro 2 promise users quality audio with a ton of improvements across the board, and the company seems pretty confident that its new features will be enough to woo potential buyers. That said, it faces competition from rival devices like Apple’s AirPods Pro, which also offer some interesting features.

If you’re thinking about buying a new pair of wireless earbuds, you might want to consider these two – let’s take a look at what they offer!

Pixel Buds Pro 2

Let’s start with the Pixel Buds Pro 2 – Google has designed its new earbuds to look as minimalist as possible (except for the pops of color on the top), though they do feature a Specially designed stabilizer. With this, users can adjust the fit of the headphones by rotating the stabilizer accordingly for a better fit.

Google has also equipped the earbuds with what it calls the “Tensor A1” chip, which it says is Designed for advanced audio processing and AI functionality, it is capable of processing audio 90 times faster than the speed of sound, plus twice the noise cancellation power and clearer voice calls. For connectivity, there is Bluetooth 5.4 on board.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 also feature Google’s “Silent Seal 2.0” to further filter out unwanted noise. Inside, you’ll find 11mm drivers for deep bass and a new high-frequency chamber for smoother highs. They can also last up to 48 hours of listening time with the charging case.

Other features include support for spatial audio and clear calls, as well as new additions like conversation detection, which uses AI to pause music and activate transparency mode when the earbuds detect you’re talking to someone. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 will also be compatible with Google’s Find My Device network, which also lets users ring the earbuds/case when they locate them.

AirPods Pro (2nd generation)

In comparison, the AirPods Pro also come with many similar features like active noise cancellation, adaptive audio, conversation recognition, and they even have adaptive EQ and spatial audio, a feature that Apple has been heavily marketing. They also work with Apple’s Find My network, which is a bit more developed than Google’s solution at the moment. The AirPods use Bluetooth 5.3 for connectivity.

In terms of design, they are very different from the Pixel Buds Pro 2: there are no stabilizers, but stems on the sides of the earbuds for a better fit. The stems of the AirPods Pro are shorter than those of Apple’s older models, although some people might find their design a little awkward as they still generally stick out. Both the earbuds and the case also feature IP54 water and dust resistance.

Inside the earbuds, you’ll find Apple’s H2 earbud chip, while the Apple U1 chip is built into the MagSafe-equipped charging case. MagSafe is undoubtedly one of the best features Apple has introduced with its products, and it’s nice to see it here on the company’s flagship earbuds as well. As for the battery, Apple claims that the earbuds can last up to 30 hours with the charging case.

Price differences

In terms of price, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are a bit more affordable at $229, compared to $245 for the AirPods Pro. Sure, both will work with Android and iOS, but the AirPods Pro work better overall with an entirely Apple-centric ecosystem of devices.

If you’re not too picky about it, the new Pixel Buds Pro 2 have a lot to offer, and the improved stabilization feature, affordable price, and longer battery life are factors to consider.
