Allegri to face Juventus in court over dismissal

Max Allegri has reportedly started proceedings to fight his former employer Juventus in court for unfair dismissal as he attempts to keep the remaining €9m of his salary.

Allegri was sacked two days after winning the Coppa Italia, officially because his behavior during and after that match was “incompatible with the values” of the club.

Considering that Juve was ready to part ways with Allegri despite everything this summer, this was seen as an opportunity to fire him for “just cause” and therefore avoid paying the remaining salary for a contract that runs until in June 2025.

It’s worth €7 million plus €2 million in add-ons, which would hit Juventus’ books for around €20 million gross, so they’re understandably eager to get rid of this deal.

According to Calciomercato.com, via Football Italia, Allegri’s lawyers have now responded to Juventus’ letter and are prepared to fight in court against what he considers unfair dismissal.

Allegri was sent off during the Coppa Italia final, after removing his shirt and tie, then began unbuttoning his shirt and shouting towards the fourth official and designated referee.

He was later involved in an altercation with the editor-in-chief of Tuttosport, although the two men reconciled just hours before the sacking.

Allegri and his lawyers will argue that the case was grossly disproportionate and will use that to secure a mutual consent dismissal, complete with a lucrative signing fee.
